March has been an unusually good month for free games, and Prime Gaming is a big part of that. If you have Amazon Prime and you haven’t been claiming your monthly games, you’ve been leaving real money on the table.
What Prime Gaming is giving away this month
The latest batch dropped on March 12 and includes Total War: Rome II — Emperor Edition and Mahokenshi: The Samurai Deckbuilder. The Rome II Emperor Edition is worth highlighting specifically because it includes a ton of DLC that normally costs extra — claiming this is basically getting a complete version of one of the better Total War games at no cost.
Earlier in the month, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and Civilization VI were also available through Prime. Civ VI keeps popping up in deals everywhere this month, which makes sense — it’s one of those games that’s easy to recommend to basically anyone.
Everything you claim through Prime Gaming is yours to keep permanently, even if you cancel Prime later. That’s not always obvious, but it’s a genuinely good deal when the library is this strong.
New releases in March worth keeping an eye on
It’s been a busy month for new games too. A few releases that have been generating real buzz:
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection dropped on March 12. It’s a turn-based RPG spin-off of the main MH series — you’re befriending monsters rather than hunting them, which is a different vibe entirely. The Stories games have always had a dedicated following and this one looks like the best entry yet.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake also came out March 11. The original is genuinely one of the scariest games ever made, and the remake has cleaned up the visuals and controls without gutting what made it creepy. If horror games are your thing, this one is hard to ignore.
Slay the Spire 2 launched in Early Access on March 5. The original is one of the most influential indie games of the last decade, so even an early access version of the sequel has people paying attention. Early reports are positive — more cards, more build variety, same addictive loop.
And for something completely different, Marathon — Bungie’s revival of their 90s shooter series — also hit on March 5. It’s been 30 years since the last entry and this is a full modern rebuild. Worth trying if you want something fresh in the extraction shooter space.
